One day, Maf saw an article about the homeless being evicted from the Tai Kok Tsui pedestrian tunnel. The term "homeless" evokes a sense of isolation, as if they lack anyone to care for them or remember them. The bird named 相思, which means "to remember" in Chinese, symbolizes that warmth and connection. Maf felt a desire to show compassion and bring attention to their plight.
Tai Kok Tsui Japanese White-eye
Giant Animal Series originated from a humorous expression made by a friend's pet cat. Maf imagined how it would be amusing if oversized animals appeared in the Hong Kong environment, and this inspired her to start a creative series. Drawing from her understanding of animal characteristics and their relationship to specific locations, along with her imagination, the changing seasons, and current events, she began creating works that explore the coexistence of humans and animals. Through these works, she quietly captures and records the changes of Hong Kong in her own unique way.
