This artwork was created when Maf was in a bad mood. When she first saw the porcupine, she couldn’t recognize its face. She thought the pink nose was its face, evoking a mysterious feeling that made it difficult to read its emotions and thoughts, as if it might catch a human and eat them. The tree wall has a dark and deep quality that fits the emotion.
Forbes Street Porcupine
Giant Animal Series originated from a humorous expression made by a friend's pet cat. Maf imagined how it would be amusing if oversized animals appeared in the Hong Kong environment, and this inspired her to start a creative series. Drawing from her understanding of animal characteristics and their relationship to specific locations, along with her imagination, the changing seasons, and current events, she began creating works that explore the coexistence of humans and animals. Through these works, she quietly captures and records the changes of Hong Kong in her own unique way.
